“How can drama help with our mental health and wellbeing?’”
Sunderland MIND, in partnership with The Cultural Spring, has commissioned Unfolding Theatre to deliver a community arts research project exploring how drama and the performing arts can support mental health and wellbeing. The project focuses on co-creation, where artists, staff, and service users collaborate to develop ideas and shape the creative process together.
The initial phase (September–November) has involved consultations and creative conversations with Sunderland MIND service users to determine the most suitable art-form and direction for a larger follow-on project.
A Street Like This is a new production from Unfolding Theatre about the unexpected friendships that arise when something unforeseen happens, changing the way people define themselves forever.
Set – and created - in Sunderland, A Street Like This explores what unifies people in a city, where division exists, and what keeps people apart. What change could happen in a city like Sunderland that reminds us we’ve got more in common than divides us?
