It’s fabulous engaging [young people] with the heritage of their home town. Can Unfolding Theatre come every week?!
— Allison Walters, Community group leader (5th Ashington Brownies)

In December 2016, families were invited to set out on a wintry quest at Woodhorn created by Unfolding Theatre and visual artist Bethan Maddocks.

Frost of Forgetfulness was creeping across the museum, muddling memories and baffling boffins. Pit canaries sensed the danger and needed the public’s help to stop the precious stories being lost forever!

Families followed the frosty trail with a birdcage in hand. They collected clues and solved mysteries before discovering a magical, memorable surprise finale revealing the Canary Keeper’s Cottage.

The event was informed by workshops that engaged over 600 people, including members of the public, Brownies, Guides, young people at Leading Link and adults at Northern Recovery Partnership.

Presented in association with bait and Museums Northumberland.
