Double your donation to Unfolding Theatre in Big Give’s Christmas Challenge 2022

Unfolding Theatre are taking part in the Christmas Challenge to raise £2,000 in just 1 week! These funds will be used for A Street Like This, a new music theatre production developed with 30 community co-creators in Sunderland.

Inspired and led by the interests and ideas of the community co-creators, A Street Like This explores the theme of unexpected friendships and the value of establishing connections with people from different political persuasions, backgrounds and ages. In the context of widening social divisions, A Street Like This is a timely production and group brings together a diverse range of people, including Brexit campaigners and Remainers, people aged 16 to 70+ and from a range of social economic backgrounds.

Unfolding Theatre will connect the residents from Sunderland with high-quality co-creation processes. A Street Like This will be an inventive mix of song, original music, electronic soundscapes and theatrical performance.

This artistically ambitious project promises to develop Unfolding Theatre’s co-creation artistic practice, ensuring that the community co-creators engage with every element of the creative process to shape an insightful, remarkable performance that will reach 2,750 audiences.

Donations to A Street Like This will be generously matched by The Big Give’s Champions during the campaign.

Michael Barrass, Executive Producer at Unfolding Theatre said:

“This year we’re looking to raise a total of £4,000. In order to access the £2,000 we have in the matching pot, we need to raise £2,000 in online donations. We hope everyone will give generously to help us reach our target, enabling us to work with the community in Sunderland and create something incredible for audiences to engage with.”

About the Christmas Challenge

Big Give runs the UK's biggest match funding campaign, the Christmas Challenge.

For seven days, it offers supporters of participating charities the opportunity to have their donations doubled. Founded by entrepreneur and philanthropist Sir Alec Reed CBE, the Christmas Challenge has raised millions of pounds for thousands of charity projects since it first launched on the Big Give in 2008.

The Christmas Challenge is a match funding campaign where donations to participating charities are doubled. The match funds come from two sources - charities secure some of these (Pledges) over the summer. The funds are then boosted by funds from a Big Give Champion who contributes to the match fund pot. The collective pot is used to double donations from online supporters when the campaign is live.
