A Street Like This wins 'Performance of the Year' at North East Culture Awards 2023

A note from Artistic Director Annie Rigby after the North East Culture Awards ceremony, held on Wednesday 13th December 2023.

“We are beaming from ear to ear after winning Performance of the Year for A Street Like This at the North East Culture Awards 2023. A massive thank you to everyone who made the show such a joyful, big-hearted experience. Making and touring A Street Like This was such a big effort on every front. There were many times during the pandemic-delayed creative process where we wondered if the show would ever make it to the stage. And I’ll never forget the community company all rallying around to help pack the van at the end of each night. 

It’s a tough time to make and tour theatre. That’s what makes it so special to have this moment to celebrate. Big love to every person who was part of making the show - from the people onstage to our production team to our staff - our audiences, our tour venues, our funders, our trustees and network of supporters and company friends. And finally, big love to everyone who is finding ways to make and tour theatre right now. Here’s to the massive, and often unseen efforts that so many people are making to bring great stories, joy and togetherness to audiences across the North East and beyond. "
